Yes, an International Driving Permit (IDP) is required if you plan to ride a motorbike yourself on the Ha Giang Loop in Vietnam.
Vietnam legally requires all foreign visitors to have a valid motorbike license from their home country AND an IDP (International Driving Permit) to drive a motorbike legally. Without an IDP:
You may not be covered by travel or motorbike insurance in case of an accident.
Police checkpoints along the loop may fine or stop riders without proper documentation.
